Absolute Art, the annual art show and sale of the Federation of Canadian Artists Calgary Chapter will take place at Haysboro Community Centre on May 12th from 10 am-4 pm. Admission is free, which gives anybody with an interest in art to see what the next generation of artists have to offer, and a chance to invest what may be considered a future collectible or masterpiece.
The 25th annual “silver” Children’s Art Show will take place at the Museum of Contemporary Art from May 3-16. This is a free event; the Museum is open Tuesday to Friday from 11 am-5 pm and Saturday from noon to 4 pm.
The 10th annual AGC Cooks: the Art of Cuisine will take place at the Art Gallery of Calgary on April 11 beginning at 5:30 pm. Tickets are $300 and only 96 will be sold. This is the annual fundraiser for the Art Gallery of Calgary and it is always a sold out event. Business formal attire is mandatory.
The 2nd annual Mall in the Hall will take place at Airdrie Royal Canadian Legion on April 14 from 9am - 4pm. Admission is $2 or free for those aged 12 and under. All proceeds go towards Carter’s Quest to fund a cure for hemophilia.
The Calgary Body, Soul and Spirit Expo will take place at Stampede Park from April 20-22. Tickets are $12, or $25 for the weekend. The expo has been described by organisers as being a means of introducing to people the concept, ideas, ways and options of living life in our ever-changing world.
The Spring Craft Show will take place at the Highland Park Community Centre from March 31 to April 1. Admission is free and tables can be rented for $25; proceeds from the tables and from raffle tickets go towards supporting the Canadian Cancer Society’s 10th annual Relay for Life.
The Young Women of Influence are presenting the seminar "Branding Basics" at the Westin Calgary Hotel on March 15 from 5:30-7:30 pm. Tickets are $15.
The 7th annual Canstruction Calgary will take place at Telus Spark on February 29 beginning at 9 am. Various companies and non-profit associations will be building sculptures using canned food or other non-perishable food items as blocks. All food will be donated to the Calgary Food Bank after judging.
The annual Cork and Canvas wine and art festival takes place throughout the month of March. This event is the major fundraiser for the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.
The next Lunchbox Soapbox Speaker Series event will take place on February 3 from 12-1:30 pm. The topic will be “Designing Killer Innovations (Your. Creating Really Big Value. Now)” and will be presented by Dr. Alex Bruton of Mount Royal University. Tickets are $50 and include a networking lunch at the Auburn Saloon; proceeds go to support the Lunchbox Theatre.
